Coin Tricks
These coin tricks provide you with three different ways to make money disappear. They don't require any special equipment, just a glass, a handkerchief and or course a few coins.
The tricks don't take long to learn and with a little practice are an impressive addition to any magicians repertoire.
The Secret: Before you begin, place a small piece of adhesive material on the middle fingernail of your hand. On the same hand, place the coin in the center of your hand towards the back of your palm.
When you grip your hand, make sure that the coin sticks to the substance on your fingernail. When you open you hand, make sure you do it quick enough so that nobody can see the coin moving on your nail or when it is hanging from your nail on the underside of your hand.
Just make sure that the coin doesn't fly off during this move. It's also a good idea to use a smaller coin so that it weights less and is easier to conceal when it is stuck to the underside of your hand.
The Secret: Show the coin on the palm of your hand. Cover it with your handkerchief. Ask several people in the audience to feel the coin under the handkerchief to make sure that it is still there.
The last person that you approach is actually your secret assistant. He or she pretends to check the coin but actually removes it and discreetly places it in their pocket. As soon as they move away, whisk the hanky off your hand and show that your hands are completely empty.
Alternatively, if your assistant is good at sleight of hand, you could arrange for them to swap the coin for a different type of coin or another object.
The Secret: When the handkerchief covers the glass, tilt the glass towards you slightly, then let go of the handkerchief so that the coin drops against the side of the glass and into your right hand. The audience will assume that the coin is now in the foot of the glass.
Grip the glass throught the handkerchief and lift it onto the table. This allows you to remove your right hand with the coin and discreetly place it in your pocket.
Take both hands and remove the handkerchief from over the glass. Take the foot of the glass and turn it upside down in mid air to show the crowd that the coin has gone.
